Artist Feature – Momo Vu

Berlin based photographer Momo Vu has impressed us a lot with her varied use of our films. Her artistic work ranges from portrait to landscape and double exposures. And she’s on the lookout for collaborations, so be sure to follow her and get in touch!

Where are you from, how old are you?

I am from Berlin, Germany and am 28 years old.

Would you like to tell us a bit about yourself and how you’re love for photography came to life?

I am a (day)dreamer and an overthinker  😉  Taking photos helps me a lot to just be in the moment. Photography found me when I was 10 years old and my uncle, who was a photographer back then, gifted me an analog Nikon camera.
I was only using digital cameras for a long time since I got my first one 2 years later though.

Do you professionally work as a photographer?

That is exactly what I am trying to do right now. Will definitely be an adventure- but I am ready! Why do you like to take analog pictures? Do you shoot digital as well? At the moment I only shoot analog. I’ve always thought, that analog photos have a lot more depth in an emotional way. The photographer really has do play with the light. Really has to feel the moment and try to capture the essence. I totally wanna get a digital camera again too. Still like to play in both worlds 🙂

Do you have a favorite subject to photograph? If so, why?

This is a hard one for me… I like to take photos of people / humans. I also love nature and landscapes and dreamy stuff. So oftentimes I just try to combine and create whatever is going on in my head, I guess that’s what a lot others do too. It’s my therapy. If I photograph a person it does not matter to me if you have the “perfect” face/body and all that – it is important to me to see something real and raw and vulnerable. I want to see the soul in all it’s purity.

What’s your favorite analog camera?

Well. I think I was not able to test around as much as others do, but I just bought a Pentax LX whilst my stay in Los Angeles and I like this one.

Do you have a favorite revolog film?

That is a hard one too 😉 I love the color themed ones and like to play around with the Tesla’s and Plexus.

Do you have a favourite photograph (revolog or not) of yours that you would like to share with us (and the story behind it)?

I am honest – I have a few that have a big meaning to me, but I am not a fan of the words ‘best’ /’favourite’. In some ways every photo I take has a moment/ story of it’s own. I hope you get what I mean 🙂

Any advice for other aspiring photographers?

No advices… 😉 Just go with the flow and experiment and never stop exploring.

Do you have any future projects you’d like to talk about?

I do work on some future projects but it is all still in the making so I don’t wanna share too much right now. But I am looking for collabs and co creating with others – so hit me up hehe 😉

Thank you, Momo!
