Would you care to tell us a bit about yourself and how you came to be a photographer?

Hello my name is Stefan Diesner, I was born in Melk, Lower Austria. I am 29 years old and I work as a full time Photographer in Vienna. In my free-time I like travelling to new places with my skateboard and my camera and enjoying life to the fullest.

My father has had  a passion for photography since his youth and there was always a camera around in our house. In 2007 I began to study at “Die Fotoakademie in Graz where I realised that there had always been a photographer in me. At the Fotoakademie I learned how to use my camera to express myself through my photography. Since then I have always been preferring an analog camera for my artistic work.

Do you professionally work as a photographer?

Yes, I do have the privilege to work as a professional photographer.

Why do you like to take analog pictures? Do you shoot digital as well?

At this point I would like to quote the photographer BOOGIE:„Film is permanent, digital is just a bunch of zeros and ones on some hard drive.“

That’s one point I really like about analog photography!!!

I like the fact that it forces me to slow down and think about the photo before I have to press the shutter button. This is not the case with my professional digital work.

I would say I use a digital camera for about 99,9% of my professional work!

Do you have a favorite subject to photograph? If so, why?

Love… every kind of love.

It’s an exciting topic for me. Everybody has, in some kind of way, experienced it and has something to say about it.

What’s your favorite analog camera?

Some years ago my mother handed-me-down her Minolta XG-M with an 50mm lens. That camera is older than me and I would say it was the best gift I ever got from my her 🙂

That’s my “go to” camera when I shoot analog.

Some years ago a friend of mine borrowed me a Hasselblad xpan panoramic camera and I loved the panoramic 24x65mm mode. I have shot one of my personal favorite portrait series which is called „LOOKING“

I am also thinking about getting a Leica M6 with an 35mm lens because I like the minimalistic style.

Do you have a favorite revolog film?

Can I say all of them??? 🙂

But if I had to chose one… I really like the feeling of the TESLA Film. Uhh and the new Plexus Film is also soooo genius!!!

Thanks so much for sharing your pictures and your story, Stefan!
